This is an 80-hour comprehensive program which prepares students for the growing field of Physical Therapy. Physical Therapy Aides work under the direction, supervision of physical therapists that help patients that are recovering from injuries and illnesses to regain movement and manage pain. Job opportunities are in rehabilitation and out-patient centers, hospitals and sports medicine clinics. This program will cover basic anatomy, patient care and clerical functions, an overview of medical law and ethics, infection control, patient prep and positioning, therapeutic modalities and medical terminology. Students are encouraged to prepare and take the AMCA (American Medical Certification Association) exam and perform a 20 hour externship in a related work setting. Textbooks and exam fees are not included in tuition. PREREQUISITE: High school/state diploma, postsecondary diploma, certificate or transcript; and acceptable score on Pre-Entrance test (Reading).
